Sidenote: I’m currently at the LEEF Conference (http://www.goleef.com), and it’s interesting to see the backlash against the term “Gamification.” The presentation above talks about Gameful Design, and Nathan Verrill from NatronBaxter used the term “Applied Gaming.”

The more I read about gamification or applied gaming, the more I wonder if this is really any different from many of the things that we designed at AI? It is apparent to me that there is greater sensitivity/consideration paid to some aspects, but it feels like these considerations are more of a tweaking than an overhaul.
If you disagree then that means that I really should be where you are now. This also struck me when listening to Schell’s recent comments here:
